Hoping for silly things...

There was a crazy party last night that I went to hoping to run into someone. He ended up not showing, sadly, but other athletes were there and one was pretty cute (note: noticing someone else isn't bad. This guy I was hoping to see I've barely even talked to. He's also simply a cute guy I've seen out a few times and developed a crush on since he's so damn attractive). I didn't want to just approach this random cute guy at the party though. I'm a bit shy at times and was, secretly, hoping he'd approach me - especially with my friend repeatedly telling me he was checking me out.

However, because of who these guys are, there are these hoochie girls that hang around and pretty much throw themselves at the athletes (and their friends too if necessary). It's awful and so, so disgusting. Let's just say that half the things I heard some of these girls have done I would never even think up, let alone consider. Ick! Ick! Ick!

I want to go out on a date, hang out, talk some and just chill. I keep going out to places like that party last night or this South Philly bar we see the athletes out at a lot and I go thinking these guys will suddenly realize I have a lot to offer and approach me. In reality though that's not the case. When it comes to these guys, I just can't seem compete with girls willing to get like gang banged ... and I would never sink that that level. In fact, last night when the cute guy was finally alone (after he'd been with this one girl who was at some point with one of like three different guys), my friend was like: "Now's your chance. Go up to him." All I could think was (oh, and I said this out loud too), "Ugh, no. An STD was not my goal for the night."

So what do I do? I try to comfort myself with the thought they're athletes and probably too dumb to have a conversation with anyway. Sad and shallow of me, but true.

Sunday

So there is a fundraiser this weekend that I've been so excited about and planning on attending. Though I could absolutely use some eye candy (to the left, to the left lol) right now, I just don't know.

Oh well, I don't know. Hopefully things work out for this weekend...

Caturday Introduces Gabriel

This adorable little guy is Gabriel and we're giving him a special introduction today because not only is he a special guy, but my friend Joyce is fostering him. Gabriel is about 6 weeks old and needs an extra special home.

A woman took in a pregnant cat who gave birth to a healthy litter of kittens ... However, the woman's dog got a hold of one of the kittens and shook it. The poor kitten's back was broken and he was unable to walk. So, the woman put the kitten in a cardboard box and put the box out on her porch.

Luckily a neighbor found out about this, posted the situation out and someone else contacted my friend Joyce. The kitten, now named Gabriel was brought from Jersey City down to my friend Joyce's in South Jersey!

Sadly, the damage done to poor Gabriel by the dog was permanent and he needs his bladder expressed manually. However, more important than that is the fact that little Gabriel is such a love! He zips around on his two good legs and deserves a home of his own. If you already know how to manage a paraplegic kitty or are willing to learn (it's not that bad), please let me know and I'll put you in touch with Joyce. This special guy deserves a great home. Please help us find it for him!

Little Olive

Meet adorable little Olive - named for her pretty green eyes. And this is her usual spot too: in her hammock. She loves it! There have been times I've honestly seen her lean out of it and try to pull her food closer or bat at her string toy. Too adorable! That's Olive in a nut shell: adorable! And loving... so loving that she's difficult to get a picture of unless she's in her cage. Other than being green-eyed and super sweet, she's also long-haired and a torbi - a tabby, tortoiseshell mix. She's mostly a brown tabby with some orange puffs in her coat as well. She's gorgeous! So, again, let me repeat these facts: green-eyed and super sweet and gorgeous ... and for adoption!

Olive was found in my aunts' garage recently just meowing away for attention ... but skittering off when you got too close to her. I snatched her up though and as soon as my hands were on her, she seemed to give up. I think she was desperate for love.

Tonight she to the vet where she weighed in at 3.2 lbs and she's negative for FIV and Feline Leukemia. Yay! She also received her first distemper vaccination and was treated for ear mites. In about four more weeks, Olive will go back to the vet to get another series of shots (including her rabies) and she'll be spayed. I'm already looking for a home for Olive now though.

Know anyone that might want to adopt a wonderful, beautiful little girl??

ut oh

On my private journal. Feel free to email me if you want access.

case of the Mondays...

I am not a bad person. I am not a bad person. I am not a bad person... I'm trying desperately to keep this in mind, but I seem to be extra aggravated today and it's Monday. I hate Mondays.

Mondays are so long - too long! They're the day I'm alone with my dad the longest and today is extra bad. He's just wandering around! Back and forth, back and forth behind me where I'm sitting on the sofa. From the fridge to the door to behind me (just staring) to the hall to the front porch to the kitchen to his room (where he turns on the TV and I don't know if he can't change it from the weather station or something, but every time it's been the same damn chimey music like on an elevator -which is why I'm guessing it's the weather station-) to behind me to the kitchen to the door to behind me. Ah!!! He'll stand in place for about a max of five minutes and then head in another direction.

There's a quote I wanted here that I found the other day which was just so perfect. If I find where I saved it, I'll add it at some point...

rescue adventure?

My lovely, lovely aunt mentioned this adventure in her blog recently. Initially I was kind enough to offer to dog sit for her if they really did want to travel off with the caravan of goodness going down to GA ... but then I thought, "Hey, I could go!"

I wrote to the woman coordinating it and offered to be a passenger. She said if there was anyone traveling alone, she'd let me know ... I'm not great at road trips (I sleep mostly), but I do kick butt with maps and have been dying to head to GA since I've pulled dogs from there (well, a shelter down there): One Eyed Jack, Finn, Daisy and Bear.

I've got nothing but time since I haven't found a job yet again, so I figured - why not! ::fingers crossed:: someone nice wants a driving buddy :)

irony

Trying to see the irony in the songs Big Girls Don't Cry being on the radio as I take my dad's truck away from him :-(

if I got to go to bed each night with the right person

and oh my! Is that a loft of just books?! I most definitely need one of those too!!

I'm blaming the rain for my head in the clouds today. Can you tell I'm wishing I were somewhere else?
